Shirley Kloepfer and Andrew Forrester kicked off the 24-hour Rock ‘n’ Read marathon and book drive Friday at Village Lights Bookstore. Kloepfer, director of La Casa Amiga, and Forrester, community relations director for the City of Madison, read “The Lorax” by Dr. Seuss in both Spanish and English. The annual event to promote literacy will donate books to the Clearinghouse of Jefferson County and La Casa Amiga. As of 6 p.m. Friday, around 200 books toward the goal of 800 had been raised. The store will continue to accept donations past the end of the marathon at 6 p.m. today.
